“I met Lisa at a restaurant in town during a coffee morning organized by a hynobirthing specialist we’d both worked with during pregnancy. That night I sat and flicked through the family shots on her website with my husband, ahh-ing and ooh-ing at the different families pictured, huddled snug on their own sofas and beds, and smiling real smiles. We agreed we wanted to capture our little gang in the same way. 

I love the pictures Lisa took and I know we’ll treasure them more and more as we grow older together. They show how much love their already is between big sister Alice and little sister Josie. And they show us mucking about and being ourselves, (only in slightly tidier rooms than usual, and with more carefully ironed clothes!!  

Lisa’s photographs don’t show the twists and turns of our journey towards becoming a family of four but they perfectly capture how it feels to be part of my family on a good (tidy, ironed) day now.  And I may be reading the pictures with a mother’s eye, but I think you can see that same look of love and awe all over Alice’s face! 

I’ll bet it’s the same for every other family that I saw in Lisa’s online portfolio on the day I met her. Each one captured beautifully in the present, but to the Mama (and Papa) in the frame, there’ll be clues and reminders about their own journey to the now.”

Thanks so much Sam. I often arrive to sleeping children. It’s the best way if possible (but obviously that is not always the case) but no need to wake until I get there. I can suss out the rooms I want to work in whilst the babies wake and get ready for the show. I think it’s fair to say that Alice loved the camera.
