I have never really done anything like this before and to be honest I never get asked but as this is a brand new Ask Italian in the Bell Court in Stratford Upon Avon, I was asked (along with other mums) to sample some of the new winter menu. Well I can assure you I wasn’t disappointed.

I was actually asked as a mum of two boys but as you know I’m a relaxed at home or on location photographer and because my experience was so great I just wanted to tell you all about it and take some piccies. I’m actually a fan of it regardless of the tasting session as I was in the one in Solihull the day before off my own back so I can assure you they weren’t feeding me to just say nice things 😉

The staff we really pleasant and sorted the kids out straight away with high chairs and colouring in. Now I don’t have a colour-inner but it seemed to keep him happy for the short term. Anyway back to the food. We went for the kids menu. It included dips and bread sticks to start, which my three year old Louis loves and he could even share it with my one year old, Billy. They then had Pizza which we could pick anything we wanted to go on top really, so perfect for kids. Louis just wanted ham and cheese. It was huge, in fact even when Billy get’s bigger I don’t think I would need to order one each for them but then again my boys don’t have big appetites yet.

Anna and I had the Pumpkin Arancini and the Butterfly King Prawns, followed by Salmon and Mixed Grain Salad and Insalata Di Pollo E Pancetta. We were being good and keeping the carb in take down which to be honest I normally struggle with in restaurants but there was a good range to choose from that wasn’t carb mad. Which is great fro an Italian restaurant. Billy really enjoyed the food too which you can see from his face below.

Dessert wise well we went for it!! Louis and Hattie had the chocolate Pizza. Why not hey but I did pay for it later. Louis isn’t great with sugar. Argh. I had the baked chocolate Gnocchi. To be honest it was too sweet for me but I am more of a savoury person so I can imagine those with a sweet tooth would love it. The chocolate just oozed out of the middle. Anna had a rather spectacular Melting Eton Mess Tower. I had total food envy there especially as they poured the hot sauce over it in front of you.

Overall we had a great experience. Really good value for money. Approx £5-£7 for starter or you could just get nibbles to share and mains are anywhere between £10-15. the kids menu is only £6.95 and includes starter, main, dessert and a baby chino. Louis couldn’t fit that in he was so full and messy.

For family friendliness too I couldn’t have been happier and the nappy changing facilities were great on the ground floor in the disabled toilet. Always a bonus. I don’t know about you but I get quite conscious of Billy making too much mess but I was made to feel relaxed and at home.

Thanks for a lovely meal and I will keep coming to Ask as I always did anyway. I have had some lovely surprisingly civilised lunches with my boys and will definitely be heading back to the new one in Stratford Upon Avon.

Thanks for looking.
