Floral Maternity Midi Dress

Is anyone else struggling to find nice maternity clothes that don’t cost the earth? Well I was. Here’s sneak peak into my late Summer wardrobe. A few weeks ago I was in desperate need for an outfit to wear for a Christening at 24 weeks pregnant, not only to go to our friends Christening of three adorable triplets but I was also asked to do the photography (blog of pics to follow shortly). Which I was so excited about. A triplet Christening being my first. So I need something comfy, practical but still to look like one of the guests. After trawling through website after website and spending lots of money on my credit card I finally had a whole heap of clothes to try on. Let’s face it it’s not like going shopping normally, half of these shops don’t have stock in store so I mainly used, ASOS, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Boohoo websites to name a few.

After a terribly fun evening with my mum trying on tent after tent (why does maternity wear have to look so ridiculous!), I finally came across some key finds which were not only non-maternity but didn’t cost the earth either. So literally £600 of the £700 spent went back! As you can imagine my husband, Will showed a big sigh of relief as the parcels piled up for return!

Also before you do anything you must raid your current wardrobe as you’ll find all the stretchy things can fit quite nicely and that way you’re not spending any money!!

So here’s a couple of outfits:

The Black Midi Dress

It’s not too tight but shows off my bump nicely and it’s sooo comfy. Midi’s are great for the short ones amongst us too, as it helps accentuate our little pins. These come at a bargain price of £8 from Boohoo in lots of different colours. I’ve even been wearing the dress with these cute sandals at work which were a great find at New Look for only £19.99 and they are real leather so are pretty comfy. This outfit can easily be dressed up with heels and a nice jacket, especially for important meetings.
You may think black is a bit boring but adding accessories like this necklace I have from H&M really transforms a dress each time you wear it. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of this one.

3/4 Sleeve Floral Bodycon Dress – Top Image

When I said raid that current wardrobe, I really meant it! I found this Zara bodycon dress with three quarter length sleeves from last season and it’s perfect for weddings or a hot summer evening with friends. It’s really stretchy and fits a bump shape perfectly. There are plenty around like this and you can grab yourself a bargain in the sales. I also feel good that it’s not maternity and that I’m wearing relatively normal clothes and of course the bonus of it being free!

Shoes wise I didn’t opt for my normal 4 inches but heels high enough to feel pretty great and gain some height without over doing it.
there are still loads of dresses like this about.

I have a few more outfit suggestions so to find out more please visit the latest Blog on Rockmystyle. My friend Charlotte asked me to tell all her lovely Rock my Style fans about late Summer wear. So get the full article here.

As the sun starts setting earlier I’ll be sure to be taking note of Charlotte’s Winter Maternity Steals!

Has anyone else got any good ideas for maternity wear? Bargain or new ways of wearing things. Please share as we’ve all love to hear about it.

Lots of Love Lisa and Bump xx
